Are the Mormons finally coming around? Mormonism founder Joseph Smith and his successor as church president with the most followers, Brigham Young, both taught that the skin color of Black people was the result of the curses of Cain and Ham. During the 20th century, many LDS leaders opposed the civil rights movement. In the 1980s, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) excommunicated people who had AIDS... a member, Clair Harward, who was dying from complications due to AIDS, primarily for his homosexuality, not the disease itself, and he was also banned from church meetings. Try to imagine how he felt in his dying days. How did Jesus feel? Probably angry...I'm angry just thinking about it. " Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" is a biblical statement in Romans 12:19, meaning that God, not humans, will handle justice and retribution. Recently, some changes have been made to allow for more inclusiveness of the LGBTQ and as you can see in this vide...

If the religious right—the same zealotry that helped elect radical Right-Wing Republicans and push Project 2025—manages to outlaw porn, do you really think people will stop “sinning”? If they ban abortion, do you think women won’t still seek it out? If they criminalize gay pride or gatherings, do you believe LGBTQ+ people will stop coming together? This is not a Christian nation. America was built on the principle of religious freedom, meaning people of all faiths—or no faith—have the right to practice (or not practice) as they choose. There’s a statue in Boston of a Quaker - Mary Dyer -who was hanged by the Puritans when they ruled the region. Is that really the direction we want to return to—punishing or excluding those who aren’t Christian? If we start forcing prayer in schools, we must also allow every religion the same right. Muslims pray five times a day. Buddhists chant. Are we prepared to make space for all of it? Because once you open that door, you open a can of worms. ...

When the Bible says "the meek shall inherit the earth," it's from Matthew 5:5 in the New Testament, part of the Sermon on the Mount , where Jesus says: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Instead, it refers to those who are: Humble , not arrogant or self-important Gentle , not harsh or aggressive Patient , not quick to anger Self-controlled , especially under pressure The idea is that God values inner strength, humility, and trust in Him over dominance or power . Those who live humbly and righteously—without trying to control or overpower others—are the ones who will ultimately be rewarded. "Inherit the earth"—what does that mean? Jesus loves all the children of the world — not just the straight ones. Jesus loves trans people, too. The photo below captures the spirit of Mexico Pride, featuring the open-hearted and inclusive UMass Boston Immigration Rights group — straight but not narrow. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m grateful to see progress, like the Mormon Church moving toward greater inclusion for all people. After all, didn’t Jesus say, “Judge not, lest ye be judged”? I once had a friend tell me, “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” Honestly, that felt more like judgment than love. Who are we to claim the role of the ultimate judge? We all have our own flaws to work on. Let’s focus less on condemning others and more on growing in compassion and kindness. Peace and love, Evan
Open Letter to President Trump about Russia and Iran

My Open Letter to President Trump: Mr. President, If recent reports are true—that you are angered by Putin’s actions and considering severe sanctions—then I urge you: Act decisively. Holding Russia accountable will not only weaken Putin’s regime but could also solidify your standing with the American people. Russia and Iran represent a dangerous alliance—one that threatens global stability. This is your opportunity to take a historic stand, much like President Reagan’s iconic challenge to Gorbachev. Imagine the legacy: a decisive blow against Putin’s aggression, a turning point in history with your leadership at the center. During a conversation with New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (a Republican I respect for his sharp insight, as seen on Real Time with Bill Maher ), I asked his view on Putin. His response was blunt and telling: “We need to step on his throat.” This isn’t a partisan issue. Both Democrats and Republicans recognize the urgency of confronting Russia ...
